Lucienne screen-printed furnishing fabric, Lucienne Day, 1974

Lucienne’s graphic skills are apparent in this design, where an illusion of three-dimensionality is created from the juxtaposition of planes and stripes. One of her last patterns for John Lewis, it was a precursor of her silk mosaics, the new medium she developed at the end of the 1970s.
