Robin and Lucienne Day's living room at 49 Cheyne Walk, London, 1954
In 1952 the Days moved to an early-Victorian house in Cheyne Walk, Chelsea. They remodeled the interiors in a strikingly ‘Contemporary’ style. Here the black ceiling of the dining area ‘disappears’ behind stretched white cords. The wire table lamp and coffee table were custom-made by Robin and one of his Hilleplan units was used to divide the open-plan space.
