Calyx screen-printed furnishing fabric, Lucienne Day, 1951

This ground-breaking design changed the course of textile history and cemented Lucienne’s alliance with Heal’s Wholesale and Export, the precursor of Heal Fabrics. With its stylized plant motifs and distinctive combination of earthy and acid colours, it was closely allied to the work of contemporary painters and sculptors such as Miró, Calder and Klee.
