Robin Day ski-mountaineering in the Alps

Robin’s passion for outdoor adventure became at least as important to him as his design career.

He had taken up rock climbing in his 40s, and went on to enjoy alpine climbing, ski mountaineering, Nordic ski-touring and long-distance walking.

In his 60s he took part in the first-ever ski-traverse of Scandinavia from north to south. This 2,000 mile journey, undertaken in 3-week sections over 4 years, was conceived and led by his friend the eminent mountaineer Alan Blackshaw.
