Flotilla furnishing fabric, Lucienne Day, 1952

The motifs on this cheerful furnishing fabric suggest buoys floating on the sea. It was designed as a follow-up to Calyx, but with the pattern on a smaller scale and with a lighter textural background. Lucienne Day commented that Flotilla was 'closer to painting than anything i did after that'.
